When Yuma Tsukumo dueled against Number 96's holder, he recklessly attacked "Number 96: Dark Mist" (who was in his fake form) by "Number 39: Utopia and defeated the holder. Later, after Astral absorbed "Number 96: Dark Mist" (card)
Number 96 could be called a Astral being since he explained he was born in Astral World, but him being a shard of a Barian (Don Thousand) necessarily does not make in a Barian since he was not born in Barian World nor came from there. Although, he does appear as any other Astral being like Astral. Since he was placed inside Astral, he could have copy Astral's form.
